Bio

Dan is a musician and composer from Kendal, currently based in Glasgow. He moved up in 2014 to study on the jazz course run by Tommy Smith at the Royal Conservatoire of Scotland, receiving piano lessons from Paul Harrison and Tom Gibbs. During his time there he threw himself into the Glasgow jazz scene and since graduating in 2018, he is in constant demand as a pianist, having performed and toured with artists such as Blue Rose Code, Corto Alto and the Joshua Elcock Big Band. In 2020 he formed a vocal piano duo with Emilie Boyd called Glassworks, leading to their debut self titled release later that year. He also runs Dreaming of White Horses, a jazz and Scottish trad crossover project, playing at Celtic Connections and Edinburgh Jazz Festival.

Since moving to Scotland, Dan found a love for Scottish trad, immersing himself in the thriving session scene that Glasgow has to offer. His upcoming release Rewilding, is his debut recording as a solo artist on which he is joined by some of Scotland’s finest artists. As a climber, his work draws from his experiences in the mountains and rugged and diverse Scottish landscape.
